SOUTHBRIDGE BOARDRIDERS CLUB CHARTER
MEMBERSHIP YEAR STARTS IN MARCH
There has been considerable growth in the club over the last to years. This growth has not only been in numbers but also in the variety of members.
If you dug up a snapshot of the club in the 80's (there's actually one on the website slideshow) and compared it with the shot from last year's presentation which heads our facebook page you will notice that the fashion and the hairstyles are not the major difference.
Whereas, the club of the 80's was made up of basically male youths and guys in their 20's, Southbridge 2013 is definitely a family affair.
Back then club activities entailed looking foreward to the next good swell, having a monthly meeting which featured a slide show in a drafty shed, hanging out at Carey Surfboards most afternoons and once a month dragging our sole piece of equipment ( a red plastic fishing box...which is still in service) filled with dyed singlets and clipboards to best break around for our pointscore.
With the club in its current form we think that we should be offering our members more. And to find out what we should be offering our members we are simply going to ask YOU.
Shortly everyone will be receiving a simple survey which will be asking you what 3 things would you like to see the club offering you in regard to surfing ( which is our core business after all) and 3 things that you would like to see the club doing socially.
eg. a surfing "thing" could be having inter-club competitions while a social "thing" could be having a club trip away.
Once we get all the responses back the committee will analyse and collate them then from this put together "The Southbridge Club Charter" a, a document which state what it is that we are about in 2013. which we will put straight into action.
Keep your eye on your email and be sure to have your say in the club's future.
MEMBERSHIP YEAR STARTS IN MARCH
Your current 2013 Southbridge membership will run from March 2013 till the end of February 2014. We've moved forward the start of our "membership year" so that your membership will remain active throughout Summer. The change has been made because it was brought to our attention that the club was dormant over the best beach- going months of the year.
So with the club now being active over the Summer we can have the scope to run a Pre-Christmas novelty club event, a late January/ Early February Final Pointscore with our Presentation in late February and we could even run The Little Lake Microgrom Classic sometime in January if that is found to be more suitable.
New members please note that as a rule all of our pointscores are run on the last Sunday of the month but there can be exceptions.
